A Shopping Mall in Patong Beach
Central Patong is a modern shopping mall located in the heart of Patong Beach, just next to the famous Bangla Road. The mall offers a range of international and local brands, with a focus on shopping and dining rather than entertainment. The ground floor features cosmetics and accessories, while the upper floors have clothing, luggage, and toys. The basement includes a well-stocked supermarket and a food court. Central Patong is a convenient stop for visitors looking for quality products and easy dining options.
Central Patong stands just across the street from the immensely popular Jungceylon in Patong Beach, but the target market seems different. While Jungceylon is an โall-in-oneโ entertainment, eating, and shopping destination, Central has only focused on shopping and food.
If you are familiar with Central department stores, you will find the layout very familiar and similar to several of their Bangkok Branches. On the Ground floor (1st floor), you will find cosmetics, sunglasses and accessories; on the second floor are the usual clothing brands and on the upper floor are the luggage and toys.
As we know, Phuket, particularly Patong, visitors love night markets and bargain shopping and often complain that brands are as expensive in Phuket as they are in their own countries, so this upmarket shopping looks rather challenging. A few weeks after the opening, the mall was rather quiet.
Food and Food Court
The underground floor is more lively and is divided into two sections: the Central Food Hall supermarket and the dining area. Central Food Hall is quite a good supermarket selling high-end fresh products, and we use them frequently in Phuket town or Bangkok. The dining area has a nicely designed food court surrounded by independent restaurants. This floor was not busy, but it might just be a question of time.
The location of this new mall is strategic, but attracting Patong tourists away from the now-famous Jungceylon seems to be very challenging, especially without entertainment as the main bait. Time will tell.
