A Hidden Beach in the South of Phuket
Sangchai Beach is a small, quiet beach on Phuket’s southern tip, right between Rawai and Promthep Cape. It’s only about 190 metres long, but that’s part of the appeal. Most tourists drive past without knowing it exists.

Getting there is half the adventure. You turn off the main road onto a narrow lane covered by trees. It feels like you’re heading nowhere. Then you reach a small parking area with a metal shelter built around a massive old tree. Entry costs 20 Baht per person. Car parking is 50 Baht extra, but motorbikes park for free.
What to Expect

The beach has soft white sand and clear turquoise water. Trees line the shore and give good shade, which you’ll appreciate around midday. A couple of makeshift beach bars sell drinks and rent paddleboards. One has a reggae theme with colourful signs everywhere.
There’s also a simple local restaurant that’s been running for years. I had the Phad Thai there. Honestly, it was just ok, nothing special. But it was cheap, and eating under the trees by the beach made up for it.
Swimming and Snorkelling

The water entry is gentle, and the sea stays calm most of the time. Good for families. Best to visit at high tide when the water covers the rocks. Snorkelling is decent near the left side of the beach, where you’ll spot fish around the corals. Watch out for sea urchins near the rocks. Bring water shoes if you have them.

There are no lifeguards here. The beach is too small and undeveloped for that. Swim with caution and don’t go too far out.
