Srisuwan Thai House is a beautiful traditional wooden house located between Phuket Town and Wat Chalong and where travellers can easily enjoy four different Thai experiences, each coming in fun packages at reasonable prices:
1. Photo shooting in Thai traditional costumes
2. Traditional Thai Cooking class
3. Thai art & painting: Thai hot wax painting, wood resin art
4. Thai herbs treatment: the making of Thai herb products: Thai herb soaps, Thai herb candles and even herb inhalers.
All the packages include lunch and little souvenirs to take back home.
1. Thai costumes photo sessions
The most attractive activity at Srisuwan is without a doubt the photo session in the traditional costumes of your choice, in the setting of several beautiful rooms decorated the way old houses used to be. The house layout is superb and the choice of costumes is vast and colourful. The photos are printed in A4 size, and you can take the file back home of course.
The photo session is part of the four packages, but if you choose to only come for the photo shoot, the price is 750 baht, 50% discount for kids 11 to 15 years old, and free for kids below 11.
2. Traditional cooking classes
The Thai cooking package includes a 3 to 4 hours cooking class, set lunch, and photo session in traditional costumes. The class costs 2,590 baht per person, and there is a 50% discount for kids 11 – 15 years old, and free for kids below 11. There is a session in the morning and one in the afternoon.
3. Thai art & painting
Batik, also known as hot wax writing and painting, is a Phuket art that is commonly found in southern Thailand. It involves using candle wax to create designs on fabric, typically depicting flowers, natural beaches, animals, or other aspects of Thai culture. The equipment needed for Batik includes a wood frame, fabric, chanting, pencil, paper, natural colours, and a brush.
The process of creating Batik involves sketching the design on fabric stretched on a wood frame, then applying wax with a chanting tool and colouring the remaining fabric. The colour is then dried and paraffin wax is applied to make the colours brighter. The final piece is washed with hot or warm water to remove the candle wax.
4. Thai herbs treatment
As described by the team, you can experience rejuvenation through Thai herbal treatments such as foot spas and massages. Indulge in nature’s care with various herbs like Roselle, which offers vitamins C, D, B1, and B2 to strengthen your immune system and improve your skin’s health.
Kaffir lime, known for its refreshing aroma, also promotes oral health, detoxifies the blood, improves digestion, and reduces stress while brightening the skin. Use the kaffir lime peel in a foot spa for added benefits. Lastly, Butterfly pea, a herbal drink, is rich in antioxidants and can aid in weight loss and blood sugar control. How to find Srisuwan House?
The house is on the left side of Chaofah road when you drive from Phuket Town to Wat Chalong. Because it is hidden by a small wall, it is very easy to miss! Thankfully, and probably because they knew many people could not spot the house, they added one of those tall air fan yellow and red puppets that dance in front of the gate (that’s actually how we found them the first time, so thanks to that puppet!)
