Arva restaurant stands between the famous hotel black pool and the beach. Many people already know that Amanpuri is one of the most exclusive hotels in Phuket, often welcoming celebrities from overseas. Tonight is your chance to explore it before dinner: walk around, discover the beautiful private Pansea Beach, and make sure you visit the stunning boutique designed by Kengo Kuma, a famous Japanese architect. Once done, have a sunset drink by the pool and enjoy the moment. It truly feels special.
The Restaurant
Arva restaurant is a beautiful wooden house in a traditional Thai design overlooking the beach. The entire walls surrounding the restaurant are glass windows offering a sea view through immense coconut trees, creating a unique tropical mood. The tables by the corner and the front are the best spots to take advantage of the ocean view. The team is very attentive and friendly, making sure you are feeling comfortable and taken care of in a friendly way.
The food
The food is, of course, the main reason you came to Arva. Arva is a Latin word for ‘harvest’, and many of the dishes on the menu use local ingredients from the sea, local farmers, or even the hotel’s herb garden.
The menu is vast and well described, with a choice of appetisers, salads, homemade pasta, risotto, fish and meats and of course, desserts. As expected, the wine list is impressive, and the sommelier is knowledgeable. Wine by the glass is available, sparkling wine – Prosecco Nua (450 baht), white wine – Luganna Brolettino (780 baht), and red wine – Il Maschio da Monte (950 baht). Prices may appear high, but once you taste them, you will not regret them.
We treated ourselves to a few dishes. Each plate comes superbly presented, and Chef Luca personally comes to describe each one with a visible passion and pride. Many of the ingredients are locally harvested, and those that can’t come from Italy’s best sources. As Chef Luca describes it so well, you never stop improving!
While waiting, you will be treated to a few delicious amuse bouches, but the best part was the sourdough bread served under a glass bell full of delicate smoke to recreate the wood oven from the past – a nice touch.
As an appetiser, we had a Granchio e Barbabietola (Phang Nga Bay blue crab, beetroot, Avola almond, Aceto di Barolo invecchiato – 900 baht). The presentation was superb, and the ingredients combined beautifully in the mouth.
The Risotto di Zucca, made with the exceptional Carnaroli Superfino Tenuta San Massimo rice and roasted pumpkin was creamy and delicious, with the seeds adding a delicate crunchy touch. (1,000 baht)
The Polpo e Patate Viola is the Mediterranean slow-cooked octopus with celery and purple potatoes, datterino tomatoes, spring onion and Modena white balsamico vinegar (1,600 baht).
Conclusion
Arva restaurant is a unique culinary experience in an exclusive hotel most people can only dream about. The price is high, but if you want to make one night in Phuket special for someone special, Arva is the place!
