Sunset Cocktails on Supanniga Cruise

Update: Supanniga Cruise is permanently closed

Supanniga Cruise is an alternative to the old-fashioned ‘dinner cruise in the dark’, offering a fun one-hour cocktail or Champagne cruise at sunset. This is a great way to admire the magnificent heritage buildings all along the Chao Phraya River, often invisible or hard to appreciate at night. You get a chance to see with plenty of details the amazing mansions, hotels, restaurants and temples.

Supanniga Cruise

The Supanniga River Cruise boat is not very big and is not a masterpiece of art, but it offers plenty of room with 2 spacious levels and 40 seats. The top deck is, of course, the most popular, but don’t miss the front area with sofas (try not to do the Titanic couple photo). Along the way, you will be able to admire the Old Siam Commercial Bank, the Santa Cruz Church, the 120-year-old run-down but still impressive Bangrak Fire station, Wat Arun, Wat Prayoon and the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, IconSiam and a lot more.

The cruise provides a little printed brochure with drawings and descriptions of the main buildings you see in this one-hour treat.

Supanniga Cruise in Bangkok

Supanniga is a name already known in Bangkok from the popular restaurant ‘Supanniga Eating Room’ on Thonglor, but also for the excellent Somtum Der Restaurant in Silom. The cruise is their latest creation, and it is promising. You can choose between the Evening Cocktail Cruise (1 hour – 1,250 baht), Champagne cruise (1 hour – 1,550 baht) or the full 6-course dinner cruise and experience real Thai cuisine from the Supanniga Restaurant (2 hours 15 minutes – 3,250 baht/person).

River City, next to the Sheraton

Overall, the experience was great because it was unique. Sunset and Champagne always work together in a wonderful way. We tried the cocktail cruise, and we had a great time, maybe a little too short. The only hiccup was that they advertise mocktails, but do not have a bartender on board, so the mocktail ended up being an iced tea. Hopefully, they will correct this for the next customers.

The Supanniga Cruise boards at the River City, just next to the Sheraton, and has an office right on the pier, easy to locate. Advance reservation recommended.
