A Great Cocktail Bar in Ploenchit
The Pickwicks Chronicles doesn’t look like much from the street; a dark, slightly mysterious building on Langsuan Road with a name that sounds more like a secondhand bookshop than a bar. But head upstairs and you’ll find something quite different. Tucked near Ploenchit, this little rooftop is a bit of a local secret. It’s easy to miss, but somehow, it’s always full on weekends. It’s best to book ahead if you’re coming on weekends.
The rooftop itself is small, no city views to brag about, but the mood is spot-on. It’s warm, intimate, and full of character. The kind of place where you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Staff are genuinely welcoming, no pretence here, and they clearly enjoy what they do.
Drinks aren’t cheap, but they’re excellent. The menu takes inspiration from The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, with each cocktail built around one of the book’s quirky characters. It sounds a bit theatrical, but it’s surprisingly fun. The mixologists know their stuff, these aren’t gimmicky drinks, just creative, thoughtful blends with a story behind them. Gin and martini lovers will feel right at home here.
There’s no big production, no rooftop drama, just good drinks and good energy. Most nights feel like a casual gathering, a few locals, some cocktail nerds, and conversations that stretch longer than planned.
We’ve finally dropped by and ended up staying longer than we meant to. Still one of our favourite low-key rooftop spots in this part of town — and still a bit under the radar, which we kind of hope it stays.
