Benchakitti Park, located in Sukhumvit, offers one of central Bangkok’s most refreshing outdoor spaces, with facilities that cater to fitness fans and families alike. The park’s well-maintained running tracks circle the central lake, covering approximately 2.8 kilometres. Early mornings and late afternoons see the tracks filled with joggers taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and scenic city skyline views.
Beyond the lake, the park’s newer section features wide open spaces that run parallel to the expressway. These expansive green fields have become popular spots for group exercises, yoga sessions, and picnicking. The flat terrain and open layout make the area suitable for various activities, from casual football games to organised fitness classes. Exercise stations with outdoor gym equipment dot the pathways, allowing visitors to incorporate strength training into their routines.
Access to the park has improved considerably with the addition of pedestrian infrastructure. Visitors arriving from Ploenchit can reach Benchakitti via a dedicated walking path that crosses between Rama IV and Ploenchit roads. This connection includes a pedestrian bridge that links directly to the park’s walking network, making it easy for those using the BTS to reach the green space without navigating busy roads. The elevated pathway offers views of the surrounding wetlands and urban landscape as it approaches the park entrance.
The Benchakitti Sports Centre, located within the park grounds, underwent significant renovations in 2024. Sports Hall 3 received a complete transformation through a collaboration between the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Thai Beverage, and The PARQ. The renovated facility now accommodates yoga, volleyball, and spin cycling classes, with 50 spin bikes and modern equipment throughout. All facilities remain free to use, operating daily from 05:00 to 22:00. The centre also includes badminton courts, basketball courts, and futsal pitches, creating a comprehensive sports complex that serves thousands of visitors each week.
