A Hidden Riverside Gem Near IconSiam
Be My Guest restaurant is one of those places you’d probably miss if you didn’t know it was there. Tucked between two giants: the Millennium Hilton and the colossal IconSiam shopping mall, this small white wooden house looks almost out of place. But that’s part of its charm. It’s been here for years, long before the glittering IconSiam towers rose behind it, and it still feels like a hidden pocket of old Thonburi.
The restaurant itself is simple but welcoming. A white wooden house with a wide terrace stretching out toward the Chao Phraya River, shaded by a few trees. It doesn’t scream for attention, and most people heading to the malls or luxury hotels next door barely notice it. But those who do are rewarded with some of the best river views and a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere right in the middle of Bangkok’s bustling riverside.
We usually stop here when we’re on the Thonburi side, especially after visiting IconSiam. The food is good, and the Thai cooking is straightforward without any fuss. Dishes like pad thai, green curry, and fried river prawns come out fast, fresh, and full of flavour. It’s not “fine dining” Thai food, just honest, home-style dishes that go perfectly with the laid-back riverside setting.
Prices are reasonable considering the location. Sitting there with a cold drink, watching the boats glide up and down the river, it’s easy to forget you’re just a few steps away from some of Bangkok’s most expensive real estate. The Be My Guest restaurant in Bangkok somehow manages to hold on to that old riverside soul that is getting harder and harder to find.
It’s not fancy, and that’s exactly why we like it. It feels real. Next time you’re near IconSiam or the Millennium Hilton and want a quiet place to relax with good food and a million-dollar view, skip the big names and look for the little white house. It’s easy to miss, but once you find it, you’ll be glad you did.
