Classic Thai Cooking in One Bangkok
We recently visited Baan Suriyasaiโs new branch in One Bangkok, and itโs a welcome addition to this rapidly growing district. The restaurant still captures the spirit of the original Baan Suriyasai in Silom, which many know for its beautiful heritage house. At One Bangkok, the restaurant sits on the 2nd floor of the Parade Wing, a quiet corner away from the crowds and the noise. The dining space feels modern and open, but you will still see that same attention to detail, especially in how they present each dish.
Baan Suriyasai is best known for drawing inspiration from royal Thai cuisine. The menu celebrates classic recipes, and a fewโlike the five-spice stew with boiled eggs and their crispy pork bellyโhave become famous. During our visit, we also noticed dishes such as chicken satay, spicy pomelo salad with seared scallops, Java-style crab curry, as well as stir-fried Wagyu beef with crispy basil and fried rice with fish flakes and dried shrimp. We were impressed that they stayed true to traditional techniques while adding a little modern touch.
The prices are higher than those at local street stalls or even most places in the food court downstairs, but the quality is consistent, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Service is polite and professional, so thereโs no need to feel uneasy about the setting or the style.
Since the restaurant is never overcrowded, you can often walk in without a reservation, even on weekends. This is rare in this part of Bangkok. Itโs a good place for business lunches, family gatherings, or if you want to show Thai food at its best without waiting in line. The space might look a bit fancy from the outside, but inside, the staff puts everyone at ease.
