The Renovated Amarin Plaza with Louis Vuitton and Gaggan
Amarin Gaysorn is the new name of the former Amarin Plaza, one of the oldest shopping malls in the Ratchaprasong district of Bangkok. The Gaysorn Group renovated it completely and reopened it with a different concept. We walked through recently and it’s changed a lot from the old days. The main draw now is LV The Place Bangkok, a large Louis Vuitton space with a flagship store, an exhibition, a café, and a fine-dining restaurant by chef Gaggan Anand.
The New Look

The first thing you notice is the building itself. The entire corner is now covered in the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern, shimmering and impossible to miss from the street. Love it or find it too much, it definitely stands out on Ploenchit Road. This is part of LV The Place Bangkok, the first concept of its kind in Southeast Asia.
LV The Place Bangkok

LV The Place Bangkok takes up a large part of the building. It’s split into four areas:
Visionary Journeys Exhibition – A walk through the history of the brand with themed rooms and displays. Free to enter, and there are plenty of photo spots if that’s your thing.
Gaggan at Louis Vuitton – A fine-dining restaurant by Gaggan Anand, one of Bangkok’s most famous chefs. Expensive, and you need to book ahead. We haven’t eaten there yet, but it’s generating a lot of buzz. Open for lunch and dinner.
Le Café Louis Vuitton – A café with indoor garden décor. Drinks, cakes, light dishes. The Mango Sticky Rice Fizz is their signature item.
Louis Vuitton Store – A large boutique with exclusive and limited-edition products, including the Alma Nano Rainbow bags and customisation options created for this location.
Restaurants at Amarin Gaysorn

Beyond Louis Vuitton, there are several restaurants on the upper floors. A few we noticed:
- Fatboy Izakaya Amarin – Japanese-style bar and restaurant. Busy in the evenings.
- Lawry’s The Prime Rib – The famous American chain, known for prime rib carved tableside.
- KAI Japanese Restaurant – Japanese food with good quality ingredients.
- Copper Beyond Buffet – Premium all-you-can-eat version of the popular Copper Buffet chain.
- KAO PIAK SEN BKK – Vietnamese noodle soups with handmade rice noodles. Comforting and filling.
- Mickey’s Diner BKK – American-style diner. Burgers, pancakes, that kind of thing.
The Food Court

The top floor has a large food court with Thai dishes at normal prices. It fills up at lunchtime with office workers from the surrounding buildings. Cleaner and more organised than most Bangkok food courts. Good option if you’re in the area and don’t want to spend restaurant prices.
Is It Worth Visiting?

Amarin Gaysorn is right next to Chidlom BTS, so it’s easy to get to. Whether the Louis Vuitton concept lasts or changes over time, for now it’s one of the more unusual shopping mall experiences in Bangkok. The Visionary Journeys exhibition is free if you want to take a look without buying anything. We spent about an hour walking around, mostly just looking. Not a place we’d go every week, but interesting to see once.
