Amazing View from the 61st floor of One City Center
Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok is the latest rooftop bar in Bangkok, and this one is pretty impressive! Perched on the 61st floor of One City Center in Ploenchit, opposite the Central Embassy, it offers almost a 360-degree panoramic view of the Bangkok Skyline.
Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok is the second tallest rooftop bar in Bangkok, right after the Mahanakhon Skywalk, but the atmosphere is a lot more cosy. Mahanakoh is more of a tourist attraction and the bar area is small and packed, while Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok is huge with plenty of excellent seating!
The rooftop has a DJ playing the latest tunes under the immense statue of Hanuman and there is a Thai show playing in front of the statue at 9 pm. In case you wonder where the name comes from, Hanuman is a revered figure from the Hindu epic Ramayana, known for his strength, loyalty, and devotion. He is often depicted as a monkey god and is a symbol of courage and righteousness.
In front of the rooftop is the Siam district with the famous shopping malls Siam Paragon and Central World, and in the back you can see the vast area of Sukhumvit. At the time we visited, the bar is mostly focusing on drinks but there are a few tapas to choose from.
There is convenient direct access from BTS Ploenchit. Walk to the tower from the BTS bridge and walk across the One City Centre garden through the first building to reach the second building, then ask for directions at the counter. It’s a bit hidden since the elevator that will take you to the 61st floor is located below the reception area.
Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok is still new so getting a seat is not a problem, but with such a setting and such a location, things will change fast. Calling in advance to book a table near the edge is always a good idea!
