A Rooftop Bar With Amazing Views in Silom
Spire rooftop bar is the newest venue at the rebuilt Dusit Thani Bangkok, and it really impressed us during our recent visit. Spread over three floors on the 39th floor on the edge of Silom, this massive rooftop bar is both modern and comfortable, offering plenty of space to relax with friends or take in the view with a drink. To reach the rooftop, you’ll need to take two sets of lifts, but it’s well signposted and easy to find once inside the hotel.
Two of the levels feature large terraces with tables and soft lounge chairs. The top floor is the most impressive: an open-air deck with a stunning illuminated golden spire standing tall in the middle. This is a nice tribute to the old Dusit hotel, where the same spire used to be one of the most recognisable landmarks in Bangkok. It now feels like it has found its place again, even more visible than before.
From the top, the view is beautiful. Right below is the immense Lumphini Park, one of the city’s largest green spaces, where we could see many runners enjoying their evening workout. To the right is One Bangkok, a new luxury shopping and office complex, and further back is the modern skyline around Ploenchit. It’s one of the most complete city views you can get in Bangkok.
Note that Spire does not offer a sunset view, as the sun sets behind the tall buildings at the back of the hotel. However, when the light reflects on the clouds above Lumphini Park, the golden hour can still be quite beautiful. They also built tall glass walls all around the terraces. While these offer safety and an uninterrupted view when seated, they also block the breeze and reflect the rooftop lighting, making it harder to take photos. If you plan to shoot the skyline, you’ll probably need to lift your camera above the glass panels.
The drink list is long and nicely selected, with a good mix of classic cocktails, premium spirits, and creative house signatures. Prices are high, which is expected in a 5-star hotel. They also have a decent food menu, with dishes prepared in an open-air kitchen tucked to one side of the rooftop.
The atmosphere is relaxed, not too formal, and the staff were genuinely friendly and easy to chat with. It’s a place where you feel welcome, even if you’re just stopping by for one drink.
