A Japanese Rooftop Restaurant
Nobu Bangkok opened on the 57th, 58th, and 60th floors of The Empire Tower in Sathorn, making it the highest Nobu in the world and one of the most luxurious rooftop experiences in Bangkok. We went for dinner recently and spent most of the evening on the 60th floor, which turned out to be the best spot. The views are genuinely 360 degrees; you can see the Chao Phraya River, Bang Krachao, Mahanakhon, and Lebua’s Sky Bar all from one place.

Location and Design
The restaurant spans three floors. The design comes from New York’s Rockwell Group, and they’ve mixed Japanese style with Thai touches. The interiors feel expensive but not overdone. Each floor has a different mood, which I’ll break down below.
Nobu Bangkok is located on the 57th, 58th and 60th floors of The Empire, making it the world’s highest Nobu restaurant. The restaurant offers stunning 360-degree views of Bangkok’s skyline, the Chao Phraya River, and the lush greenery of Bang Krachao.
The design, crafted by the renowned New York-based Rockwell Group, draws inspiration from three distinct landscapes found in vintage Thai maps: Urban, River, and Mountain[5]. It blends Thailand’s artisanal techniques with traditional Japanese arts, creating a unique and elegant atmosphere.
The 57th floor

The journey begins on the 57th floor, which houses an elegant lounge, a bar, and private dining rooms inspired by Japanese tea ceremonies. It’s an ideal spot for intimate gatherings or pre-dinner drinks.
58th floor indoor

The indoor dining room on the 58th floor is the main area for a proper dinner experience. Featuring a long sushi bar and plush seating for 80 guests, this air-conditioned space is perfect for a luxurious meal, especially during Bangkok’s rainy season.
58th floor outdoor

The outdoor terrace on the 58th floor is perhaps the most striking. With seating for 126 guests spread across two levels, this immense space provides stunning views of the southern part of Bangkok. While the terrace is great for enjoying tapas and cocktails, it gets quite dark after sunset. If you’re here for dinner, consider starting with a drink outside before moving indoors for your meal.
60th floor

The 60th floor is easy to miss. Many guests don’t bother going up, which means it’s quieter than the floors below. The circular bar under the curved arch looks impressive, and this is where you get the full 360-degree view. We could see Mahanakhon Skywalk, Lebua’s Sky Bar, and IconSiam from our seats. If you’re timing it for sunset, this is the floor to be on. Also not a bad spot for a proposal if that’s on your mind.
Signature Cocktails

Of course, a visit to Nobu Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without trying their expertly crafted cocktails. We tried two standout options:
Matsuhisa Martini (450 THB) – A mix of Grey Goose Vodka, Hokusetsu Junmai Sake, and ginger. This cocktail was a favourite of Robert De Niro, co-founder of Nobu New York.
Lychee Elderflower Martini (450 THB) – A delightful blend of Grey Goose, lychee, and St-Germain Elderflower.
Both drinks were beautifully presented, with delicate flavours that packed a punch – perfect for sipping while taking in the views. While the cocktails were smooth, keep in mind they are quite strong in alcohol 😀
Dining Experience
Nobu Bangkok’s menu showcases Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature Japanese-Peruvian fusion dishes. Every plate is meticulously crafted, with flavours that justify the premium price. Each dish was as delicious as it was visually stunning, with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and Black Cod Butter Lettuce standing out as favourites. Here’s what we ordered:
Nobu Tacos

Salmon Spicy Miso 250 THB and Beef Spicy Ponzu 290 THB and

Yellowtail Jalapeño – 660 THB

Black Cod Butter Lettuce 960 baht

Baby Spinach Salad Dry Miso with Shrimp (950 baht)

Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (660 baht)

Chocolate Goma (Chocolate black sesame, pecan nut, oat milk whiskey ice cream – 400 baht)

Japanese Strawberry Cake (Strawberry cake, white chocolate almond, strawberry ice cream – 400 baht)
Just to give you an idea, the hot dishes feature a luxurious array of options, including Black Cod Miso (1900 Baht), Black Cod Butter Lettuce (4 pcs) (960 Baht), Chilean Sea Bass Dashi Ponzu (1550 Baht), Umami Chilean Sea Bass (1500 Baht), Grilled Octopus Aji Amarillo (1850 Baht), Rock Shrimp Tempura with Butter Ponzu or Creamy Spicy Sauce (950 Baht), King Crab Tempura Amazu Ponzu (2350 Baht), King Crab Leg Yuzu Butter (2350 Baht) and so much more! Just check the menu on their website.
Final Thoughts

Nobu Bangkok is a remarkable addition to the city’s dining scene, combining luxury, world-class cuisine, and unparalleled views. Whether you’re here for a special occasion, a romantic dinner, or just to enjoy cocktails with a view, it’s an experience you won’t forget. Don’t miss the 60th floor for its quiet charm and panoramic views—it’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable evening.
Final Thoughts
Nobu Bangkok is expensive, and you’re paying partly for the view and the name. But the food was good, the cocktails were strong, and the 60th floor genuinely surprised us. If you’re planning a special dinner or just want rooftop drinks somewhere quieter than Sky Bar, it’s worth considering. Just don’t skip the top floor.
