Vietnamese Restaurant in Velaa

Maison Saigon at Velaa Sindhorn Village has quietly become one of our favourite Vietnamese restaurants on Langsuan Road. Itโ€™s in a peaceful corner of the Sindhorn area, just behind the Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel. Inside, the dining room is bright and comfortable, but we always go for the terrace. It faces a little landscaped garden, and if youโ€™re lucky with the weather, especially after a bit of rain, itโ€™s a really pleasant spot to sit. You almost forget youโ€™re in central Bangkok.

The menu is much bigger than you might expect. Of course, the pho is excellent โ€” rich broth, tender meat, and plenty of fresh herbs on the side. But they also have more regional dishes we donโ€™t see often in Bangkok, like banh loc (small dumplings made with tapioca and filled with shrimp and pork) and bun thit nuong (rice noodles with grilled pork, herbs, and fish sauce). Iโ€™ve tried the royal shrimp cake as a starter once โ€” crisp and full of flavour. It came with a thick dipping sauce that I ended up finishing with a spoon.

Desserts are definitely worth saving room for. Their banh flan โ€” kind of like a Vietnamese crรจme caramel โ€” is smooth and chilled, not too sweet. The uyen thy pudding is something Iโ€™d never had before: soft tofu in a warm ginger syrup. Light and comforting at the same time.

One thing I appreciate is that they cook without MSG and try to keep things fresh and healthy. You can taste it in the way the herbs and sauces stand out. Service has always been friendly, and the staff are happy to suggest something if youโ€™re not sure what to order.

Theyโ€™re open daily from 11 am to 10 pm. We usually stop by for dinner when weโ€™re in the area, especially if weโ€™ve been shooting nearby or walking around Lumphini. Still one of the best spots for Vietnamese food in this part of Bangkok.
