Spanish Restaurant at CentralWorld

Unomas is an upmarket Spanish restaurant offering a panoramic view of the Bangkok skyline from the 54th floor of the Centara Grand Hotel. You can access the restaurant directly from the immense CentralWorld shopping mall, which makes it convenient to shop a bit before your sunset cocktail and dinner. Unomas received a Michelin Plate for Good cooking, and indeed, the food is excellent and the menu extensive, but as you can expect from such a location, the price can be steep. They are also proud of their eight-meter-high glass wine cellar containing 2000 bottles.

Unomas is quite big but is often full, and you should consider booking in advance to avoid disappointment (we saw some people eating at the reception area). One entire section can be booked for special events, limiting the seat available even further.

Unomas restaurant advertises itself as a rooftop, but only the floor-to-ceiling glass doors can be opened. Since there is no outdoor sitting, it’s more of a semi-al-fresco dining room. To enjoy a good rooftop, take the staircase next to the restaurant reception and have your first drink at the famous Red Sky 360 Rooftop Bar above. Even better, if you can afford it, go up to the luxurious (and expensive) CRU Champagne Rooftop Bar.

What to order at Unomas

We are not shy when ordering tapas! The menu is long and well-described but lacks illustration; you must use your imagination. Here are a few dishes we tried, and all were good: Unomas Bravas: Potatoes soft and crisp, spicy tomato sauce (190 Baht), Jamón Blázquez cured for 48 months (790 baht, supposedly the best ham in the world), El Pulpo: Grilled Galician octopus, chipotle, green mojo and black ink aioli sauce (850 baht), Suckling Pig: quince paste, apple gel and pork jus (590 baht). As a main dish, we had Unomas Paella: Free-range yellow spring chicken and seafood (large 1,290/ small 990 Baht); keep in mind that it takes up to 45 minutes to prepare paella.
