Kang Kaang Restaurant

Kang Kaang: Thai Food with Riverside Views on Song Wat Road

Kang Kaang (ข้าง ข้าง, meaning “right beside”) is a laid-back Thai restaurant on Song Wat Road, at the end of a narrow alleyway overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The space occupies a converted house with partially removed walls, creating an open, casual setting. Mismatched tables, basic wooden chairs, and a small counter for ordering. Both indoor and outdoor seating with river views.

Kang Kaang is about everyday comfort, not fancy dining. The modest décor and riverside setting are the main appeal: a breeze, local Bangkok atmosphere, and passing boats. People come for a peaceful meal, afternoon drinks, or to take photos of the river.

The food is simple Thai dishes cooked to order: fried rice, pad krapao, som tum, stir-fries. Most dishes are 50-100 Baht.

Open 11 am to 6 pm, closed Mondays. Parking is limited, so walk or use public transport. Easy to reach from Chinatown and other Song Wat Road spots including vintage shops and art spaces nearby.

Food & Drinks

The menu covers Thai neighbourhood standards: egg-topped rice dishes, curries, simple soups, iced drinks, and beer. Not a destination for food lovers seeking something special, but good for locals and visitors who want a taste of Bangkok riverside life away from tourist areas.

Kang Kaang fits the Song Wat Road scene, which has become popular for street art, vintage shops, and riverside cafés. Good for a no-fuss meal, a drink with friends, or just watching the river.
