Easy shopping and casual dining in Silom
Silom Complex first opened in 1993, designed as a mix of office space and shopping mall right on Silom Road. It’s not as massive or flashy as the newer Bangkok malls, but that’s what we like about it: you can actually get things done here without weaving through crowds or luxury brands.
Convenient, central, and connected
It connects directly to Sala Daeng BTS Station with a sky bridge, and the Silom MRT Station is just around the corner. Very handy if you’re staying nearby. We often stop here after work for a good casual dinner or to buy groceries.
Shopping
There’s a Central Department Store across several floors and a Tops supermarket in the basement—good for stocking up on basics. There’s also a big Muji, Daiso, beauty counters, and plenty of smaller shops.
Where and What to Eat
There’s a surprisingly wide choice of restaurants in the building—perfect if you want to try excellent Thai food in a spot that’s easy to reach:
- Baan Ying: modern, nicely presented Thai comfort food.
- Banana Leaf: a good range of central Thai dishes.
- Laem Cha-Roen Seafood: great for seafood lovers, quality ingredients.
- Lim Lao Ngow: well-known for its Thai-Chinese noodle bowls and roasted meats.
- Ros’niyom: another good place for Thai comfort dishes with strong flavours.
- MK Restaurant: popular Thai suki.
There are also international options:
- Wine Connection in the basement: nice pastas, burgers, and a wine list.
- Fuji: Japanese set meals.
- Coco Ichibanya: Japanese curry.
Plus Swensen’s, Yayoi, Black Canyon Coffee, Auntie Anne’s, and a couple of bakeries. There are also countless coffee shops now!
Summary
Silom Complex is one of those easy, central places where you can shop, eat, and get errands done without wasting time. The BTS and MRT are right there, which makes it a spot I return to often when I’m in this part of town.
