Lakshmi Shrine

Religious Landmark in Siam

The Lakshmi Shrine is a bit of a hidden gem right in the middle of Ratchaprasong, just across the road from CentralWorld. It’s tucked away on the 4th floor of Gaysorn Village, and honestly, it’s not that easy to find. The easiest way is to go up to the 2nd floor first, then take the external service lift, the type usually used for moving goods, which takes you straight up to the rooftop, where the shrine is located. Once you step out, you’ll see the golden statue of Lakshmi surrounded by flowers and incense, a quiet little escape above the busy shopping district.

Around the shrine, some statues resemble the Four Heavenly Kings (จตุโลกบาล), the guardians of the four cardinal directions in Buddhist and Hindu belief. It is believed to be the protector of the world and to find balance in everything. When visiting the shrine, you should be respectful and keep your voice down. Also, you should dress appropriately, like you would when visiting a temple. There are offerings like flowers that you can buy, but you may bring your own offerings if you wish.

It might take a bit of effort to track down, but that’s part of the charm. Once you’re up on the rooftop, you’ll find a calm little corner that feels miles away from the noise below. If you’re exploring around Central World, it’s worth a visit. Lakshmi Shrine is one of the hidden spots in Bangkok.
