Izakaya Near Sala Daeng in Silom
Daimasu is a Japanese izakaya in Silom that stays open late. We’ve been a few times after dinner elsewhere when we wanted drinks and snacks. It gets busy with office workers and Japanese expats from around 7 pm. The vibe is casual, a bit cramped, and loud once it fills up.

The Place

Small wooden tables, some made from crates. Handwritten signs everywhere. Feels like a Tokyo tavern squeezed into a Silom shophouse. Upper floors have table-top charcoal grills where you cook your own meat. Ground floor is tighter but you get served faster.
Location is Silom Soi 6 (Soi Tantawan), off Surawong Road. Five-minute walk from BTS Sala Daeng or MRT Silom.
What We Ordered

Yakitori skewers, beef karubi, gyutan (beef tongue). The grilled stuff is good. Sashimi was decent but not the main reason to come. This is a drinking spot with food, not a proper Japanese restaurant.
Small plates start around 100 Baht. Premium cuts and seafood push it higher. We usually spend 800-1,200 Baht each with drinks. Beer and shochu are the main pairings. They had a happy hour on draft beer but not sure if that’s still running.
What to Know
Gets smoky upstairs from the grills. Hair and clothes will smell like charcoal after. Not the place for a quiet dinner.
Service is quick but nobody speaks much English. Point at the menu or pictures. Most regulars seem to know exactly what they want.
Open until 1 am, sometimes later. Good option if you want food and drinks after everything else has closed.
Second Branch
There’s another Daimasu at Nihonmachi on Sukhumvit 26. Same style, similar menu. Haven’t been to that one.
