4 Best Rooftops Bars on Bangkok Riverside

Explore the Rooftops on the Bangkok Riverside

Riverside rooftops offer something different from the skyscraper bars downtown. The views here aren’t about looking down at the city from 60 floors up. They’re about watching the Chao Phraya River flow past, boats crossing between the banks, and temples lit up after dark. We’ve spent a lot of evenings on both sides of the river. ThreeSixty at the Millennium Hilton is our go-to when we want proper sunset views without the crowds. It’s right next to ICONSIAM and somehow stays quieter than you’d expect. Eagle Nest is completely different, just five floors up, but you’re looking straight at Wat Arun. Hard to beat that. The Thonburi side has a few spots worth crossing over for. 342 Bar is tiny and simple, sitting above Baan Wanglang Hotel with the Grand Palace directly across the water. SEEN at the Avani is much bigger, with room to spread out and a relaxed atmosphere that feels less formal than the downtown rooftops. Getting to riverside bars takes more effort than jumping off the BTS in Sukhumvit. But that’s part of why they stay less crowded. A ferry ride or a walk through Wang Lang Market makes the evening feel like more of an adventure.

Eagle Nest at Sala Rattanakosin

Eagle Nest at Sala Rattanakosin

Eagle Nest is one of those rooftops I keep going back to. It’s not high up like many others in Bangkok, but the view is hard to beat. Located right on top of Sala Rattanakosin Hotel, the bar looks directly across the river to Wat Arun, and just behind you is Wat Pho. When the sun starts to set and the lights come on, the view becomes quite special.

Seen Rooftop Bar

Seen Rooftop Bar at Avani Hotel Bangkok
27th floor – Location: Thonburi
SEEN is one of the rooftops I like to bring people to when they want a break from the city centre and something a little more relaxed by the river. It’s on top of the Avani+ Riverside Hotel, directly across from Asiatique The Riverfront, and the view over the Chao Phraya is wide open and really beautiful, especially just before sunset. The rooftop itself is immense, which makes a big difference. There’s space to move, no sense of being crammed next to other tables, and the seating is genuinely comfortable. I usually go straight for one of the large sofas near the edge — perfect for a long catch-up with a drink in hand while watching the lights come on across the river.

342 Bar

Bar 342 Rooftop on the Thonburi side of Bangkok
5th floor – Location: Thonburi
342 Bar is one of those rooftops you almost miss unless someone points it out. It’s located on the fifth floor of Baan Wanglang Riverside Hotel, right on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River. It’s not high up, but the view is hard to beat — directly across the water, you’re facing the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, and the golden spires of Rattanakosin. At sunset, the whole area glows. Getting there is part of the experience. You can take a ferry across from Tha Chang Pier or just walk from Wang Lang Market if you’re already on this side of the river. Once you arrive, the rooftop is small and simple, with a handful of tables and a casual setup. It’s quiet, relaxed, and refreshingly free of crowds.
