A Small Park and Museum Honouring the Mother of King Rama IX
Princess Mother Memorial Park is on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, a short walk from the Chao Phraya River. We stopped by on the way to Guan Yu Shrine nearby. It’s a small park with a few museum buildings dedicated to Princess Srinagarindra, the mother of the late King Rama IX. Honestly, not many tourists come here. It was just us and a few elderly locals doing Tai Chi under the trees.

What to See

The park has gardens, shaded paths, and a cluster of small museum buildings. Inside, there are old photographs, personal belongings, and displays about Princess Srinagarindra’s work in public health and education. One building is a reconstruction of the house where she grew up. It’s modest. She came from a regular family, not royalty.

The exhibits are in Thai with some English. We spent maybe 30-40 minutes looking around. It’s not a major attraction, but if you’re interested in modern Thai royal history, it fills in some gaps. Most Thais know who she was. She’s on the 10 Baht coin.

Outside, there are benches and some flowering plants. A few of the buildings use traditional wooden Thai architecture. Quiet. Shady. Good if you need a break from walking around Thonburi.
