Fishmonger Ari in Bangkok is a spot I have been to once, and it is exactly what it says on the tin. Right in front, there is a big sign that says local seafood bar, and that vibe carries through the whole place. The moment I walked up, it honestly gave me seaside Australia or UK fish shop energy, like the kind of place you would wander into near the beach for something crispy and salty. Even though it is in the Ari district, it still feels like a little coastal escape.

Inside, it is casual and easygoing. You do not feel like you need to dress up or plan anything; you just come in because you want good seafood. The space is bright, simple, and busy in that nice way where you can tell people genuinely like eating here. It feels like a neighbourhood hangout in Ari, but with the kind of seafood focus you usually have to go out of town to get.

What We Ordered

I also liked how the ordering works in Fishmonger Ari. You can choose from their catch of the day, so whatever they catch that day is what you get to eat, which makes it feel a bit special. If you are not into that idea, they still have normal fish like barramundi, grouper, or snapper. Then you pick the style you want, like fish and chips, steak, salad, or burger. They are most popular for fish and chips, though. Price-wise, the catch of the day changes, usually around 300 to 500 baht, while standard fish is about 210 baht and premium fish around 280 baht.

We had the fish and chips and the pesto prawn tapas, and I was really happy with that combo. The fish and chips were proper comfort food, crispy batter that was not greasy, and the fish inside was fresh and flaky. The pesto prawn tapas was the fun extra on the side, juicy prawns with that herby punch that made the whole meal feel brighter. Overall, it is a solid Ari district seafood stop in Bangkok when you want something simple, fresh, and with that seaside shop feeling.
