Mojito Rooftop Bar Bangkok

Mojito Rooftop Bar at Compass SkyView Hotel

Mojito rooftop bar came out of nowhere in the Sukhumvit area, exactly behind the Emporium mall, the same week Radisson Blu and Novotel Sukhumvit launched their own rooftops nearby. The rooftop race is just getting more fun every week!

At first, Mojito is a bit of a “same-same but different” rooftop. Very minimalist in design but with a real 360 view, it is quite a nice place to hang out after work. There is no riverside nearby to admire, but the Benjasiri Park is just below to add a touch of green, and plenty of skylines to play the game of ‘Recognize that building over there?’ The location within a short distance from Phrom Phong BTS station makes it an attractive place to go after work.

Access to the rooftop is interesting. Walk through a beautiful and brand-new shiny lobby, and take the lift to the 30th-something floor. Walk out of the lift, then climb up a staircase of what appears to be a 4-floor high unused but well-decorated nightclub with glass huge walls, a catwalk and mirror balls. Then climb a few more stairs… and a couple more to finally reach the open air. Remember those stairs after a few cocktails because it’s a long way to fall.

The rooftop has a wooden floor, small palm trees, nice sofas and small high tables near the glass rail, and of course, the compulsory ever-changing colour bar; they avoided the retractable roof, so you get a real open sky above your head (for now). It’s relaxing, and the atmosphere comes to life once the night settles down and the lights are turned on.

Prices are a little high without being excessive, and the menu is not too long. They are not trying to play the mixologist card, just enough cocktails, mocktails, beers and wines to please everyone. On the downside, they don’t serve any food at all, only some peanuts and popcorn. We guessed the cook saw the staircase and decided he wouldn’t carry the food up there. Just kidding.

Overall we did like it. The full open sky space with well-balanced lighting and a comfortable and spacious sitting. It doesn’t try to be super fancy to impress, have a sit with friends, order a couple of drinks and enjoy the sunset on the Bangkok skyline.
