Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok
Vertigo is an open-air rooftop restaurant and bar on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok. The bar sits on a narrow terrace at the very top of the building, with no walls or glass barriers, so the views stretch in every direction across the city skyline.
The setting is dramatic. Standing at the edge of the terrace, you can see the Chao Phraya River, the high-rises of Sukhumvit, and the sprawl of Bangkok stretching to the horizon. The wind at that height adds to the experience. Sunset is the most popular time to visit, and reservations are recommended for the best tables.
The restaurant serves grilled seafood and international dishes, and the cocktail menu is well put together. Prices are high, as you would expect for a venue of this calibre, but the experience is worth it for a special occasion. A smart casual dress code applies, so no shorts or flip-flops.
Vertigo is one of Bangkok’s original rooftop bars and remains one of the best. It is a good choice for sunset drinks or a memorable dinner above the city. For the full guide, see Vertigo Bangkok.
