What to do at EmSphere?
EmSphere is one of the newest malls in Bangkok, sitting right on Sukhumvit Road as part of the EM District. We dropped by not long after its grand opening, curious to see how it compared to the already-famous Emporium and EmQuartier. The place turned out to be huge, bright, and busy. It doesnโt feel like an ordinary mall because of the mix of retail, food, and lifestyle spots. People werenโt just shopping, they were walking dogs, hanging out at cafรฉs, and even heading to concerts inside.
TRIBE Sky Beach Club
TRIBE Sky Beach Club is one of the newest rooftop bars in Bangkok and probably the most surprising one Iโve seen in a long time. Itโs not just a rooftop โ itโs a rooftop beach. Located on the top floor of the EmSphere Mall in Sukhumvit, Tribe Sky Beach Club feels like it came out of nowhere and suddenly became one of the cityโs coolest sunset spots.ย
Shopping Experience
Inside, the mall stretches across six levels. The feeling is more open than in other Bangkok Shopping Malls, with wide aisles and high ceilings. International sports retailers and tech brands opened flagship outlets here. At the same time, smaller Thai labels fill the in-between spaces, offering local fashion or handmade items.
One thing that stood out was the new IKEA โcityโ store. Itโs smaller than the giant warehouse versions outside town, but it covers the basics for people living in condos nearby.
IKEA
IKEA is on the mallโs 3rd floor of EmSphere and covers an entire floor, operating as a compact city-store with full room sets, Market Hall essentials, and a restaurant serving Swedish classics and quick meals.
The store focuses on urban living needs with a streamlined range and services like click & collect and home delivery for larger items, which suits condo households.
With approximately 12,000 mยฒ of space and over 8,000 products available, it functions as a major anchor within EmSphere while keeping the familiar IKEA layout and self-checkout
Dining and Entertainment
Food is easy to find on almost every floor. Thereโs a large food court with local dishes priced around 70โ150 THB, and several mid-range Japanese and Korean restaurants, which are always busy in the evenings. On the top floors, restaurants with park views charge more but give extra comfort and space.
Entertainment plays a big role here, too. EmSphere has modern cinemas, including an IMAX and luxury screens. Families with kids can spend hours in VR gaming areas and play zones. When we visited on a weekend, a live music event was happening in the open hall, drawing a big crowd. It made the place feel more like a town square than just a shopping centre.
Why EmSphere Stands Out
Bangkok has no shortage of large malls, from Siam Paragon to Iconsiam, but EmSphere adds another option in a central location. Its direct link to Emporium and EmQuartier makes this area one of the largest shopping complexes in the city. What makes it different is the mix of global names with lifestyle spaces like pet zones, IKEA, and live venues. For people living or staying along Sukhumvit Road, itโs now hard to skip.
Another detail we liked was the petโfriendly policy, not something you usually see in Bangkok malls. Quite a few shoppers were carrying small dogs in strollers.
Getting There
The location is easy to reach, though traffic can be heavy at times. If you take the BTS, Phrom Phong Station connects straight into the EM District through covered walkways. From there, it takes only a few minutes to enter EmSphere. We tried coming by taxi in the afternoon, and it was much slower. Unless youโre carrying a lot of shopping bags, the Skytrain is the better choice.
