Gelato Shop in Chinatown, Bangkok
Hey Gelato is a small, clean gelato shop tucked into a side street off Yaowarat Road in Bangkok Chinatown. The exterior is hard to miss, with bright green letters, a black brick surround, and a bench out front. Inside, it is compact and no-frills.
Polished concrete walls, a long white counter with steel tasting bowls lined up, and a big menu board overhead with the full flavour list in bold colour blocks.
The menu is focused. You get two columns of gelato flavours, a couple of sorbets, and a daily special. One scoop is 130 baht, two scoops 160 baht, with a homemade waffle cone or Nutella as add-ons. They also run a slushie machine behind the counter with two rotating flavours. We spotted a fruit punch and a mango on the day we visited. We did not order one, but they looked like a solid option if you want something cold to sip while walking rather than a cone to manage in the heat.
What We Ordered
Raspberry Sorbet and Dark Chocolate Gelato
The raspberry sorbet is bright pink and properly fruity. Clean and sharp without being too sweet, and it sits well in the homemade waffle cone, which adds a slight crunch and a warm, toasty note that balances the tartness nicely. The dark chocolate gelato in the cup is the opposite: rich and dense
This tastes like actual chocolate. Smooth texture with a deep cocoa finish. Between the two, you get a good contrast of light and heavy, and either way, you are sorted for a post-Yaowarat cool down.
