AETHER BKK Rooftop Bar

A New Rooftop Above Silom

Aether opened in December 2025 on the 44th floor of Dusit Central Park, the new mixed-use tower at the corner of Silom and Rama IV Road in Bang Rak. It is run by Watermelon Group, the team behind Rabbit Hole and Crimson Room, and the cocktail menu is led by Depp from Rabbit Hole. The design is all clean lines, brushed metal speaker towers, glowing amber bar fronts, and a 360-degree open deck. On paper, it ticks every box for a modern rooftop bar in Bangkok. In real life, I left with mixed feelings.

I went on a quiet weekday to check it out for my list of best rooftop bars in Bangkok. The drinks were genuinely good, and the bar staff knew their craft. But several things made me hesitate to recommend it over the rooftop bar sitting one floor below in the same building.

You Pay to Get In

Aether is one of the very few rooftop bars in Bangkok that charges an entry fee. The cover is 600 baht per person, and it includes a 450 baht drink credit. So you are effectively paying 150 baht just to walk onto the deck. Most rooftops in Bangkok do not charge a cover at all, including the Spire Rooftop Bar two floors below in the same building. If you only want one or two drinks and a quick look at the view, the maths does not work in your favour.

I had a confirmed reservation, but when I arrived, there was no record of it and no sign at the entrance. I ended up with a table away from the edge instead of one of the better spots along the side. The side tables are where you want to be on any rooftop, and at Aether they are limited.

The View Is Not as Open as You Would Expect

The deck is surrounded by tall glass walls that sit about a metre back from the edge of the roof. That gap matters. It means you cannot get close to the railing to look straight down at the city, and the glass itself is high enough to cut off a chunk of the skyline from a seated position. The glass was also smudged and reflected the warm orange bar lights, so the view through it was hazy in places.

To get clean photos of Lumphini Park below, I had to lift my camera high above my head. The result is a lot of sky, a thin strip of cityscape, and a distant view rather than the big panoramic sweep the marketing photos promise.

Loud Music, Not a Quiet Sunset Spot

Aether is built around its sound system. Two big sculptural speaker towers stand right next to the bar, and the music is loud from early evening. The crowd skews young and dressed up, and the energy ramps up after dark. If you are looking for a place to chat over a drink, this is not it. If you are in a party mood and want house music with a city view, it works.

The Drinks Are Good, but Snacks Are Basic

To be fair, the cocktails are the strongest part of Aether. The menu uses modern techniques like fat-washing, clarification, and rotovap distillation, and the bar team clearly knows what they are doing. The cocktail list runs through a sequence that starts deeper and warmer in flavour and lightens up as you move through the menu, which works well as the night moves from sunset into late evening.

There is no proper food menu to go with the cocktails. When I asked for something to nibble on, I got a bowl of potato chips. For a rooftop at this price point in Bangkok, that is thin. Most premium rooftops offer at least a small plates menu.

Conclusion

AETHER BKK Rooftop Bar at Dusit Central Park

Aether looks great in photos, and the cocktails are excellent, but the entry fee, the glass walls, the loud music, and the basic snacks add up to a rooftop that does not match its hype. For a sunset drink with a real panoramic view, I would walk down two floors to the Spire Rooftop Bar at the Dusit Thani instead. Same building, better view, quieter mood, no cover charge, and proper food.

Aether is worth a visit if you specifically want a late-night house music rooftop and you are happy to pay for the door, but it does not make my list of best rooftop bars in Bangkok.
