Chestnut Ice Cream in Song Wat
Nuury Chestnut Ice Cream has been operating out of a soi off Song Wat Road since 2000, which makes it a genuine old-timer in the neighbourhood rather than a newcomer riding the area’s recent wave of attention. It started as a modest shophouse in the alley and has since expanded into the proper sit-down space it is today.

The room has patterned floor tiles, round marble-top tables, dark wood chairs, green and teal tiled walls, and shelves behind the counter stacked with old Chinese teapots, vases, and brass ornaments. A vintage radio sits on a side table next to wooden toys and a folding Chinese fan. It is retro in a way that feels earned rather than staged, which fits the Song Wat neighbourhood well.
The Ice Cream
Chestnuts are on everything here; the name is Nuury Chestnut Ice Cream. That is the concept, and it has been since the beginning. The ice cream arrives loaded with chopped chestnuts on top, soft and slightly sweet, adding texture to every spoonful.

The coconut base is the one to go with. It is clean and not overly sweet, and the chestnuts work well against it. Honey is an option worth adding. For something a little more unusual, the coffee coconut combination is also a strong order. The portions are generous, and the price is low, which makes it an easy stop without overthinking it.

The Space

You order at the counter under the “Order Here” sign and pick up from the same spot. The room has enough seating to sit down properly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. There is no rush. The decor does a lot of the work here, old Chinese-Thai memorabilia, ceiling fans, colourful cushions on the chairs. It feels like a place with some history behind it, which it has.
