The Viral Croissant Egg Tart Shop in Bangkok

YOLK is the croissant-style egg tart shop in Banthat Thong Road that took over the Bangkok dessert Instagram in 2025 and has been selling over 100,000 tarts a month across its branches since then. Founded by Thai actor Inn Sarin, the brand replaced the traditional egg tart shortcrust with a flaky croissant shell and filled it with a thick, glossy custard. The flagship sits at 1424 Banthat Thong Road, a small takeaway counter with no seating and a queue out the door most evenings.

What We Ordered

The Original Salted Caramel

The original is the one to order first. A thin layer of salted caramel sits under a thick, golden custard inside a crisp, buttery croissant shell. The custard is smooth and glossy, set just enough that it holds its shape without running everywhere. The salted caramel adds a savoury edge that balances the sweetness. It is the version that built the brand, and the one most people queue for.

Getting There

Open daily from 3pm to 11pm. The flagship is on Banthat Thong, but YOLK also has branches at CentralWorld, Siam Paragon, Central Park, Emsphere, Central Pinklao, Charoen Nakhon, and Sukhumvit. If you do not want to queue at Banthat Thong, the mall branches usually move faster.

Eat the tarts fresh on the day if possible. If you take them home, warm them in a toaster oven for 1 to 2 minutes before eating to bring back the crisp shell. They lose their texture quickly at room temperature. YOLK has earned its hype. The tarts are not cheap, but the original salted caramel is one of the better new desserts to come out of Bangkok in years.
