Where to Stay in Krabi?

Krabi sits on the Andaman coast of southern Thailand, just east of Phuket across the bay. Most visitors stay at one of the beaches rather than in Krabi Town. Each beach has a different feel, so the right hotel depends on where you want to wake up.
Ao Nang is the busiest base, with the widest choice of hotels, restaurants and boat trips. Railay is quieter and reached only by longtail boat, with tall limestone cliffs right behind the sand. Tubkaek and Klong Muang are calmer again, and this is where you find the high-end resorts like Rayavadee and Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. I have stayed at beaches all around Krabi over the years, and the view from Tubkaek across to the Hong islands is still one of my favourites in the area.
