The Boathouse restaurant, situated on Kata Beach, offers a blend of Southern Thai and Western cuisine, serving both lunches and fine dinners. Guests can choose between indoor and outdoor seating, enjoying a romantic dining experience with the stunning backdrop of the Andaman Sea. The restaurant has been recognized by the prestigious Wine Spectator Awards since 1995, boasting a wine list featuring over 150 unique labels. Additionally, there is a stylish pool bar located by the beach, adding to the overall charm of the dining experience.

The beachfront dining is the restaurant’s highlight; you are still sitting just by the powdery white sand of Kata Beach. What makes a romantic diner perfect is the quality, originality and creativity of food, accompanied by a sunset view of the Kata Bay and smooth and discreet service. The excellent wines add the final touch, as the Boathouse has a well-established reputation.

The indoor part of the restaurant is vast and bright, but nothing can beat the tables above the beach with ocean and sunset views as you see in the photos. We went for the boathouse’s special degustation menu, which comes with a wine pairing with each course. Not cheap, but it’s a chance to try wines you might never have a chance to drink. If you like a drink before or after your meal, you can sit at the beautiful bar or enjoy a sunset from the second-floor terrace.

• Lamb Shank Massaman (Thai curry with tender lamb shank, potatoes, peanuts, onions, and a rich, aromatic coconut milk sauce)
• Yam Som O (Thai salad made with pomelo, shrimp, coconut flakes, peanuts, chilli, shallots, and a sweet-sour dressing)
• Yam Neua (Thai spicy beef salad with grilled beef, shallots, mint, cilantro, chilli, lime, fish sauce, and toasted rice.)
