Sizzle Rooftop Bar and Restaurant is a romantic place at the top of the Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong in the south of Patong Beach. Just to set the tone, you need to know that this hotel is part of the MGallery by Sofitel, an award-winning luxury resort. Sizzle is one of the popular rooftop bars in Phuket.

The resort sits on a hill and from this unique vantage point, you can admire two bays: Freedom Beach and Paradise Beach. You are not really close to the beach but you can see far above the forest all the way to the sea.

Set on a large dark wood floor with comfortable rattan sofas, the restaurant and bar are spacious and very relaxing and welcoming, perfect after a day at the beach. The rooftop is large and allows a good table distribution so you are not too close to your neighbours. If you are smart to book in advance you should really get one of the two little Salas, those little traditional Thai houses without walls that give an extra romantic touch and even more privacy. An open kitchen occupies an entire side of the terrace, focusing on grills, barbecued meats, steaks and fresh seafood.

Sizzle Rooftop Bar faces the sunset so try to come on time to admire it (click here to see what time is the sunset in Phuket today). The bar opens at 4.30 pm so you have just the time to enjoy one of the many wines or cocktails on the list while admiring the end of the day on the ocean nearby. Once the sun has set, candles are lit and it’s time to enjoy dinner under the stars. it is just fantastic.

The menu is well designed, with no less than 9 starters, 17 mains and 8 desserts. We started with an artichoke heart rémoulade and Burrata cheese and tomato. As for mains, we tried a seafood platter with a rock lobster (150 g), 2 Korean oysters, some tiger prawns (100 g) and moonlight squid (790 Baht) plus a 250 g beef rib eye (1,190 baht). That was more than we expected!

So remember to call early and ask for those little salas, or at least a table on the side of the terrace where the view is the best. Those tables are few and of course, they with going first. Apparently, this is also a good place to propose!
