The Nai Harn Phuket Review
The Nai Harn Phuket stands in an excellent location in the south of the island, and with its classic, timeless design, the resort has always been very iconic. Built among thousands of coconut trees on the green hillside of Nai Harn Beach, it is the only resort in Phuket offering a unique view of this fabulous beach, and what beach! A large crescent of beautiful white sand bathing in turquoise blue water (during the high season, at least).
In 1987, this 130-room resort was first a Mandarin Oriental Hotel, then later became Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club and changed to The Nai Harn, a private resort. Not much seems to have changed from a distance after it became an independent hotel, but once you enter the resort, it is an entirely different atmosphere.
The best feature is undoubtedly the new rooftop from which you get a unique panorama of the Nai Harn Bay and the many yachts anchored in front of the islands, all the way to the iconic Promthep Cape.

1. The beach of Nai Harn
Nai Harn Beach is a picturesque and secluded beach located on the southern tip of Phuket, with white sandy shores and crystal-clear waters during the high season (December to April), it offers a perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxation. Nai Harn Beach also offers various water activities such as kayaking and snorkelling, beach massage, and small local restaurants under the trees serving Thai cuisine and drinks.
2. Rooms and Suites
The Nai Harn Phuket offers five room types: Deluxe Ocean View Room (42 sqm), Grand Ocean View Room (81 sqm), Ocean View Suite (85 sqm), and Royal Ocean View Suite (111 sqm).
We stayed in an Ocean View Suite on the top floor, and the view from our balcony was superb. The room is not extremely large but very well equipped, with a 55-inch flat-screen and even an espresso machine. Each room has a large balcony, a beautiful oversized daybed, and these fantastic sea views. The bathroom is well-designed and comes with amenities provided by Elle Spa.
3. Dining at The Nai Harn Phuket
The hotel features two restaurants: Cosmo and Rock Salt. Cosmo is where you will enjoy a fantastic breakfast with some striking sea views. The breakfast buffet is one of the best on the island, and the atmosphere is perfect for a holiday. Cosmo also serves all-day Mediterranean, International and Thai cuisine from 9 am to 10 pm. The restaurant is a unique viewpoint to enjoy a sunset cocktail before dinner.
Rock Salt Beach Restaurant
Rock Salt Lounge and Bar is just above the sea, and a staircase takes you directly onto the beach. An excellent place for an afternoon drink, snack, or even a later seafood dinner. Tables are set on a terrace just above the blue waters of Nai Harn Bay and protected from the sun by the shade of a giant almond tree. Read more
Reflections Rooftop Bar
The best addition to the resort is the large rooftop overlooking the bay, with lots of loungers, cushions and bean bags; it’s a fantastic place to end the day with a glass of wine or a cocktail. A saxophonist plays some tunes at sunset to add to the tropical holiday atmosphere.

The Swimming Pool
The pool is still small but never gets busy since the beach is so near and beautiful; most guests enjoy walking down to the sea.
5. What is around the Nai Harn Phuket?
The Nai Harn is a bit far from the other famous beaches like Patong, Kata or Karon, and this might be why guests choose to stay in Nai Harn, which has been relatively spared by construction frenzy. You will need at least a bike to explore the south of the island, which is peppered with many restaurants, or a car to go around the island, which you should do at least once.
If you plan to stay around Nai Harn, there are a few small restaurants near the beach, some convenience stores, a tailor and many fruit stalls to enjoy local sweets.
Not far behind the hotel, you’ll find a small hidden beach of Ao Sane, great for exploring. Then, further south is the beautiful windmill viewpoint, the small but lovely Ya Nui Beach and no better way to end the day than admiring the sunset from Phuket’s most famous landmark: Promthep Cape.
